Ingredients
- 1 cup low-sodium beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon vinegar (balsamic, cider or rice)
- 1 teaspoon molasses (for color and depth), or 2 teaspoons golden monk fruit sweetener
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Steps
- Whisk everything together in a pot and bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute.
- Lower the heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes more. Remove from the heat and let cool.
Heart-healthy notes
Uses only 1/8 teaspoon of salt for the whole cup. Use it anywhere you'd use soy sauce, plus in place of fish, hoisin, oyster or teriyaki sauce.
Note: Monk fruit tip: many monk fruit sweeteners are blended with erythritol. Check the label and pick pure monk fruit or a monk fruit and allulose blend. Adapted from Sans Salt (sans-salt.com).
